About Us

Jerry Shelton, ABOC

Jerry Shelton, ABOC has over 40 years experience in the optical business, from running a small optical dispensary to managing large optical chains.  He has worked in large-scale lens manufacturing facilies where he oversaw quality control on custom and complex optical jobs and developed custom wrap sunglasses.  He worked with NASA as the sole supplier of eyewear for the astronaut training program and helped develop a prescription insert for flight helmets worn by astronauts during flight training.  He served in the US Army at the Pentagon as a member of the Pentagon Emergency Response Team.  Jerry grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University.   When not cutting glasses, he enjoys spending time with his wife (also an optician) and chasing his grandkids.

Jerry brings his extensive optical and business knowledge to Engineered Optical, which he has built (quite literally) from the ground up.  Jerry started with an empty room in April 2017 which he developed into a first-class optical shop. 

Carlene Johnston, ABOC

Carelene Johnston, ABOC has over 25 years experience in the optical business.  She has run both large busy dispensaries, optical finishing labs, and small boutique optical shops.  She has a keen eye for style and fit and brings a wealth of experience to Engineered Optical.   In her off time, Carlene loves to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

 You are welcome to bring in any eye current doctor's prescription, or if you need a new one, we can arrange for you to be seen by Dr. Goldsberry at North Texas EyeMD next door.
